Love and Support for New Lungs

Many of you know about Chuck’s battle with lung issues. He was diagnosed with emphysema and COPD a few years ago. Then last March, he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Since that time, he required oxygen 24/7, and recently his condition had worsened. Thankfully the rest of his body is VERY healthy – to the point that he was placed on the waiting list at UNC Chapel Hill for a lung transplant at the age of 74!

I am overjoyed to announce that Chuck had a double lung transplant on Tuesday, July 4th!! Thanks be to God!! We are so grateful to the unbelievable transplant team and surgeons. He is doing great, breathing and walking all on his own!! Amazing!!

Once discharged from the hospital, he is required to stay in Chapel Hill, NC for 3-6 months. Susan and Chuck will live in an apartment and he will attend therapy and clinic daily until he is strong enough to return to their home in Huntersville, NC. We would really appreciate your continued prayers and support during this exciting time for Chuck and his family.

To help with the financial burden of uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in honor of Chuck Hill with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to help patients and families in need for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law and are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund in honor of Chuck Hill.
