Clayton Baxter

Hello, I am Clayton Baxter. I am a Waiver-DSP in Russellville, Arkansas.

I was diagnosed with Nephrotic syndrome -with minimal change- when I was 3 years old. I had heard many stories of people having the same condition and waking up the next day with it being gone. I had hoped for that for a very long time but it never came. I lived with that diagnosis until I was 32.

At 32 the disease developed into FSGS -Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis- (I did look up how to spell that). It was devastating after leaving that appointment. But, in the end, I needed it. I believe that everything happens for a reason. I changed my life. I followed advice from professionals. I tried to be more personable and give more effort in anything and everything. I’ve lost almost 120 pounds since this diagnosis, in preparation for a transplant and also to live a better life. I love people. I love helping wherever I can. I did not know I could do any of that until my life was in danger.

I consider my life changed already with the support I’ve been given. I can’t imagine life after a transplant.

Family and friends of Clayton Baxter are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Clayton has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
