Your Help Can Make the Difference!

On July 3, 2017, Arthur Bilenker was injured by his truck and transported to University Hospital, where he was diagnosed with and treated for an incomplete C5 and C6 Spinal Cord Injury. At the time of injury, he was paralyzed from the chest down and has not regained any function. After three weeks in the ICU, he was transported to the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, where he continues to work daily towards healing. It is unclear what the long term physical outcome of his accident will be. Prior to his injury, Arthur was planning to retire from dentistry after over 25 years in practice. Following retirement, he planned to continue serving as Colonel and State Dental Officer with the New York Army National Guard; teach and mentor students at Rutgers; remain active in the NJ Dental Association; and take extended walks with his dog, Mowgli.

At this time, we continue to evaluate his unknown and ongoing rehabilitative needs, long term care, and plan modifications to our home, we have decided to establish this opportunity to contribute financially to his journey.

We welcome contributions from those who feel this is how they would like to show their support and are incredibly grateful for the consistent, heartfelt support we have received in all forms since his accident.

We have created this opportunity through Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductible donations. Funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses.

Now we are approaching the ninth anniversary of Art’s accident. Art remains paralyzed with no meaningful function. In addition, he had a mild heart attack at some point in 2025 and underwent cardiac catheterization. Two stents were placed to open a blocked coronary artery.
