Connie Hovis

Connie Hovis is a 59-year-old woman who has suffered from Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC) for the last 10 years. This disease not only impacted her liver but also her kidneys, ultimately leading to both a liver and kidney transplant in early February. Connie is one of the kindest and most giving people you’d ever hope to meet and she needs our help. Even with insurance, the cost of one transplant, let alone two can be overwhelming.

Connie grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Great Valley High School. She went on to Millersville University where she studied psychology and met her husband, Steve. They have been married for 39 years and are the proud parents of four children and a grandson. They moved to Brentwood, TN 10 years ago and opened a family business called Nucci’s where Connie was the friendly face behind the counter until her illness forced her to stay at home. Connie eagerly looks forward to returning to good health, playing with her grandson and being active again in her community. Together, Connie and her family are committed to seeing her through this journey back to good health.

Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Connie will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, insurance premiums and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life. The uncertain status of pre-existing condition health insurance is also a concern.
