Help Courtenay Get Her Bone Marrow Transplant.
Family and friends of Courtenay Bradshaw are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Courtenay is a wife, mother of 5 with one child still at home and a retired nusre. She first began her cancer journey in February 2021.Literally the day after selling their large family home Courtenay was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma that had spread from the mouth into the lymph nodes in her neck. Unfortunately their insurance didn’t cover Courtenay to have treatment at MDAnderson so the majority of the funds gained in the selling of the house were used for Courtenays treatment. These funds were to be the seed of their retirement fund, now gone. While battling the cancer in 2021 it was discovered that Courtenay had another life threatening cancer, Myelodysplastic Syndrome known as MDS. Since this Courtenay has undergone bone marrow biopsy every 4 months to watch the progression of the disease. This past January the bone marrow showed that the disease had begun to advance quickly. It was determined that the time for transplant had come. As of 5/10/24 a donor matching 100% has been found and now its just a waiting game. It is projected that Courtenay will be in hospital no later that 6/14 to begin her treatment. She will be in hospital for 30 days then in Houston no further than 15 minutes of MDAnderson for a minimum of 100 days.
