Cynthia Clark

Dear Family, Friends, Former Students, and Members of the Community,

Cynthia (also known as Cyndi) Clark (formerly Northrup) is an intelligent, fun, 55-year-old giving mother of 5 children, 3 of which she is still raising at home.

Cyndi was born in Michigan and has been in Texas since 1980, working hard to support herself and her family.

In July 2014, Cyndi was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease. Doctors told her she had 4-5 weeks to live, but with the grace of God and many prayers, she is still with us today.

Cyndi would have never imagined the time would come when she would need a helping hand. She has always been very independent, putting herself through many years of college until she earned her Ph.D. from TCU, after which she became an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas. Cyndi has taught thousands of students at UTA and has quite a following from students even after they are no longer in her class. Cyndi is no longer able to teach but is doing organizational work for her department. Cyndi is struggling to keep her insurance as a liver transplant costs over $400,000 for the surgery alone. Her health insurance will cover some of the expenses but co-pays, deductibles, caregivers for up to three months after surgery, anti-rejection medicines, which will cost up to $800 a month for and which she will have to take the rest of her life, are not covered.
