Family and friends of Cynthia Becvar are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund medical expenses associated with Liver Transplant. Cynthia has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

CYNTHIA’S UNIMAGINABLE JOURNEY

In 2023, Cynthia’s world changed forever. After enduring a complicated brain surgery, she contracted meningitis. While fighting through this already grueling battle, doctors uncovered a deeper, life-threatening issue: Cynthia’s liver is failing due to cirrhosis. The only thing standing between her and the life she deserves is a liver transplant. The path forward is not easy. Cynthia has been making frequent trips to UPMC in Pittsburgh, going through endless tests and appointments, and doing everything possible to prepare for this life-saving procedure; she even had a second brain surgery. Once they find a donor, the Becvar family will have to relocate to Pittsburgh for 2-3 months to ensure proper recovery. Cynthia’s husband Greg will have to take a leave of absence from both his jobs. One job he will get partial pay and one job he will not receive any pay. 

The emotional and physical toll of this journey is immense, but the financial burden is equally overwhelming. Medical expenses, travel costs, and the challenge of sustaining a household during this time are more than they can shoulder alone.

Cynthia is only 55 years old, with so much more life to live and love to give. Her laughter, warmth, and kindness are irreplaceable to her family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to know her. She has always been the first to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her. This is not just about saving a life— it’s about restoring hope, reuniting a family, and giving a remarkable woman the chance to continue spreading her light in this world.
