I Need YOU to help hope LIVE for Me!

What can be the purpose under heaven in having a body with two failing lungs and multiple sclerosis?

My name is Cynthia McCullough and that’s a question I’ve asked myself for several years, especially now that the time has come for a double lung transplant. I find myself moving into a new season of life in which I am depending heavily on family and friends for support with every facet of life. A few—including my husband, Malvin and my brother Brad—are right here with me. Their help with the physical needs of everyday living is tremendous; I can’t manage without them. But starting now, my most critical need is funding.

May I count on your financial support in this evolving season of my illnesses? I live in southeastern Indiana, but my best chance at a successful double lung transplant (given my other physical complications) is in Cleveland, Ohio. As a result, I will make numerous road trips for testing and exams. Because of my distance from the hospital, I will have an air ambulance charge when the call comes. Then I will be facing a seven-figure surgery and hospital stay, a 3-month temporary residency in Cleveland while I recover, and last but not least medications to keep both organ rejection and my multiple sclerosis under control for the rest of my life—and I’m not yet 55. It is all quite overwhelming for all of us!

That is why this is the time I have joined with Help Hope Live—a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to help hope live in the hearts of patients and their families who are facing the mountain of expense associated with transplantation and catastrophic illness. Help Hope Live has the expertise and technical resources to assist patients’ fundraising efforts, such as this campaign page you are viewing now, and also to manage the funds that are raised.

Every gift is equally important in covering the multitude of expenses; currently I need to reach $20,000 in the fund so certain expenses are covered at the point I am listed. Ultimately, I hope to have at least $200,000 raised to fund uninsured expenses for both the double lung transplant and my multiple sclerosis. May I also count on your prayer support? My most fervent prayer in this time has become that God will use me and my story to bless people and glorify him; I hope to share frequently to keep everyone up-to-date on my condition.
