Cynthie Needs Our Help!

My mother-in-law, Cynthie Ingalls Link, is very sick and in need of a lifesaving kidney transplant. About three years ago, in May of 2012, Cynthie became ill for several weeks with pain in her lower back and very high blood pressure. After a couple visits to her Deaconess Hospital doctors, they diagnosed her with end-stage-renal disease. Dialysis started immediately. Cynthie, who is always eager to lend a helping hand to others, now needs our help, because the cost of a transplant is overwhelming.

Cynthie is a Spokane, WA resident who graduated from North Central High School. She raised 3 sons, Jason, Jeremy and Chris. Her main focus was on her boys while working odd jobs to supplement the household income first at the family’s dry cleaner business then with her own antique business in the 90’s. Best Buy was her last employer before her illness forced her to stop. Today, she lives on her own making it day-to-day on a very limited income from disability. It covers rent and bare necessities. Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Cynthie needs our help.

Before Cynthie can be placed on the active kidney transplant waiting list at Sacred Heart Medical Center, she needs extensive dental work in preparation for her new kidney. To avoid infection, she will have all her teeth pulled and replaced with dentures. We are trying to raise close to $1000 to cover that expense alone but there is more. Even with insurance, she is facing very high costs that include relocating closer to the center for 3 months during recovery, transportation to and from the hospital, copays, lab fees and anti-rejection medications she will need to take for the rest of her life.

To help with the financial burden of Cynthie’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Cynthie loves to spend time with her 12-year-old grandson, Elias watching movies and videos together and enjoying family barbeques. She eagerly looks forward to the time when she feels healthy again so she can spend more quality time with her family, return to work and possibly do some traveling. Together, Cynthie and her family are committed to see her through this transplant. We thank you in advance for any help you can give.
