Help Dallas Get Her Wheels!

Dallas is a sweet and loving 9-year-old girl who loves going to school. In December of 2014, she was a victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome. Dallas has overcome many challenges and obstacles throughout her short life. She is wheelchair bound and has limited use of the right side of her body. One obstacle she is currently facing is transportation to doctor’s appointments, school functions, and outdoor trips. Dallas’s mother tries to save for a wheelchair accessible van but it seems there are always unexpected medical costs not covered by insurance.

Being a social butterfly Dallas loves going out amongst people. She never fails to say “Hi!” to each person she passes and always finds someone to have short conversations with. She enjoys going to the zoo to see the animals and try to imitate the sounds they make.

Dallas is growing each day as all children do and has become to heavy for her mother to safely lift into and out of their vehicle. Her mother is a single mom who constantly advocates for all of Dallas’s needs. She has applied to many grant and state programs in hopes of getting help for a wheelchair accessible van only to be told no over and over again.

Dallas is fundraising for a wheelchair accessible van. Wheelchair accessible vans cost up to $80,000 new and $50,000 for an excellent used wheelchair accessible van.

Dallas is looking forward to exploring her community by going to the park and zoo again. Plus, she will be able to plan a visit to go see her big sister who lives out of state.
