Dano Lancelot

Family and friends of Dan “Dano” Lancelot are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Dano has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Dano is originally from Long Island, New York and now lives in San Diego, California with his wife Gina, daughter Jade and dog Sassy. Making his living following his musical passion, Dano is founder and featured artist of Dano’s Island Sounds, and also enjoys joining San Diego’s Sol-e-Mar whenever possible performing Brazilian/Latin/Caribbean percussion. Looking forward to better health in the future Dano will be pursuing opportunities composing for television and film.

For most of his adult life, Dano has been battling Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), an incurable genetic condition which has taken almost all of his kidney function. Undiagnosed for many years Dano’s condition was well advanced when it was discovered in 2004. In 2011, Dan was placed on the kidney wait list and very recently has begun Peritoneal Dialysis to stay alive while waiting for a kidney donor.

The current wait for a deceased donor kidney of a matching blood type is approximately 4 years.

Though much of the treatment and medications necessary both before and after transplant are covered through private insurance and Medicare, the uncovered expenses and medications are building and will continue indefinitely after the 2 year post-transplant Medicare immunosuppressant coverage.

Our family is hopeful and thankful for potential living donors now being tested.
