Danny Stern

Meet Danny Stern.

A young man who grew up in South Florida with Muscular Dystrophy. Danny has been wheelchair bound since the age of 10. All his life he had to defy the odds to be where he is today, but there was never an obstacle he could not overcome.

Despite his limitations, he attended The Florida State University for undergrad and Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law to earn his Juris Doctorate. He then went on to pass the Florida Bar back in 2017. He was only able to accomplish these things because he had his own van to take him everywhere he needed to go. Without his van, it would have been nearly impossible to do everything he has done in his life thus far. Unfortunately, his van of 20+ years has finally been retired.

Back in the fall of 2019, we put together a GoFundMe for Danny and we were immensely thankful for all the support. We were able to raise about $20,000 to go towards Danny’s new van. It was amazing to see all his friends and family contributing in making this possible for him.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we decided to put the fundraiser on hold. We wanted to make sure when he gets his new van he would be able to go out safely. Now that he is fully vaccinated, we decided to start this new campaign to help him out a little bit more in making up the difference.

Today, Danny is an associate attorney working for McFarlane Law in Coral Springs. Danny works remotely from home due to his lack of transportation, something he was forced to do even before the pandemic broke out. A new van would be instrumental in helping him grow independently as a person and attorney. These days he is unable to travel on his own without the assistance of public service transportation. Needless to say, the struggle has been overwhelming for him to constantly rely on services that are out of his control.

Now more than ever he needs your help and understands that with the assistance of others, we can get him closer to fulfilling his wish to driving his brand new van. A gift like this would mean the world to him and it’s certainly something he would be forever grateful for.

Fortunately, Vocational Rehabilitation, a federal-state program, will help cover the costs of the handicap conversion. However, Vocational Rehabilitation will NOT cover the cost of the van itself. The conversion for a handicap van costs altogether about $164,000. The van he needs costs about $55,000. Our goal is $35,000 because that’s the estimate of the difference needed to purchase the van that fits all of his needs. We are hoping to raise enough funds to ensure he is able to purchase the van in full upfront and with as little as financing as possible.

Any contribution would be greatly appreciated, even the smallest donations can help us reach our goal and get Danny his new custom-made van that he will be able to independently drive on his own!
