Danielle Needs Wheels!

Hi, my name is Danielle, and I am currently a social worker aiding individuals who utilize state funded insurance in Wisconsin. I was born and raised in Illinois and I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy since birth and utilize a power wheelchair on a daily basis. I independently hire and train my staff of caregivers to assist with my daily needs.

Frequently, I need to travel within Wisconsin and even to Chicago for various medical appointments. However, currently I do not have a wheelchair modified vehicle. Due to this I often need to travel with a caregiver without my power wheelchair. This reduces my overall independence and causes a greater level of fatigue, due to needing to transfer to and from a car multiple times.

Although I experience my own unique physical struggles and being away from home, I am passionate about dissolving stigmas and stereotypes of individuals with disabilities. The ability to purchase a modified vehicle would greatly improve my ability to help others by being able to travel around my community and identify the needs of community members.
