Darlene Micozzi needs your help

In October 2021 I was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. I now have oxygen and take pirfenidone 3 times a day. I’m very limited in my activities and I cannot walk a far distance.

I live in Western Pennsylvania, so I have gone to UPMC in Pittsburgh and Cleveland Clinic, but they both have denied me treatment. I was accepted at Temple which is in eastern Pennsylvania 4,5 hour’s drive away from my home. Once I received the call for my transplant I will have to immediately travel to Philadelphia, and I will have to pay $2,000 for transportation.

There is no cure for this disease. The only help is a lung transplant. The life expectancy for my medical condition is 3 to 5 years. Some patients have gone longer. I dream about having my gift of live and be able to see my grandson getting married and my other two grandchildren graduating from school.
