Hello all,

On August 21, 2015, I had an accident and broke my neck on a lava rock in a fall, while trekking on Hawaii’s Big Island, and in an instant my entire life changed dramatically.

When I arrived at Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu I couldn’t really move, and I was paralyzed in the lower part of my body for 3 months. After a lot of physical therapy, I started being able to move my toes just a bit after that, then some more lower body functionality started coming back from the bottom on up. I’ve been recovering for the past several years, and at this point I use forearm crutches, a walker, and a wheelchair for assistance in getting around.
