David Irons Needs Your Help

Family and friends of David R Irons Jr are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

These medical expenses include deductible’s, out of pocket premiums, medications that will be taken for life which include immunosuppressant’s, organ rejection medications among others. Relocation closer to the University of Utah may be required after the transplant for a short time allowing for ease of transportation in making clinical testing and rehabilitation appointments. These are expenses that are not covered by traditional health insurance.

The decision to receive the “Ultimate Gift” of a heart transplant has not been an easy one. Many trips to the Emergency Room and an exhaustive list of medications and procedures led to a consensus among his Cardiac Care Team, that the best course of action would be to replace his enlarged and overworked heart.

David looks forward to getting back to a life full of hiking, traveling, photography, and gardening after the procedure and recovery period.He also likes to work on LEGO and model railroading. Yes, he is a self described K-adult, an adult that still will play like a kid! David is not ashamed to really enjoy his life and share with others.

He’s currently writing a daily journal to document his thoughts and journey through the transplant process. David wants to turn this into a book to help others, as each transplant journey is different. He wants this book to be a resource full of information for transplant patients.
