Declan Murphy

Declan is a 4 year-old boy living with Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease in High Point, North Carolina. Declan is a determined, happy, loving, and peaceful boy that has a heart that could only represent the Father’s love for us.

Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease is a rare disease that is a leukodystrophy. It is a disease in the brain where a PLP1 protein that makes myelin is not producing it at the capacity our body needs. Therefore Declan has physical and cognitive delays. While this disease is terminal we have hope that Declan will overcome.

We as Declan’s parents are determined to give him a life well loved and well lived. We strive to make Declan feel included and as independent as we can possibly help him to be.
