Dear Friends and Family,

July 28, 2011 is the day my life took a dramatic change. I received a life saving telephone call from the University Of Pennsylvania Hospital. A generous anonymous family donated their love one’s organs. This huge act of kindness provided me the opportunity to ‘Live My Best Life.” I no longer have to use oxygen or do breathing exercises. I can now breathe, walk and talk simutlaneously. I now breathe like a champion! I consider July 28th my new birth-day.

It has now been nine months out since my lung transplant. I continue to recuperate daily as I take a regiment of medication which is my life line. I anxiously look forward to my one year milestone which means I have less of a chance for organ rejection which usually occurs within the first year.

While so many things have changed, the escalating cost of medication remains the same. In order to prevent lung rejection, I must continue to take a regiment of medication. To defray some of these uninsured transplant expenses, a fund raising campaign in my honor has been established with Help HOPE Live (formerly NTAF). Help HOPE Live which is a nonprofit organization, has been assisting the transplant community for more than 27 years.
