DonDon Needs Your Help

If you don’t already know him, we’d like to introduce you to Donald Reeves, age 44, known to friends and family as DonDon. In 2008 DonDon was diagnosed with liver failure, and was recently put on the liver transplant list. This life saving operation is very costly and DonDon needs your help.

DonDon is one of 5 children to Veteran Wayne Reeves, who was his best friend until he passed away last year. As friends since childhood, DonDon has always been the love of his wife Teresa’s life. Prior to diagnosis, DonDon was an energetic, outgoing man with an award winning personality. He liked playing the guitar, and building and repairing go carts, scooters, and dirt bikes.

DonDon’s children say he’s the best father anyone could ever ask for. Donald Wayne’s best memories growing up with his father are times spent hanging out with DonDon and his friends. Celita’s favorite memories are watching Pacers and Colts games with her dad, and how when DonDon taught her to drive, they’d make jokes about how Teresa would have been a terrible teacher because she drives too slow and stops way late! Brittany’s favorite memories of her dad are the ways he kept the kids busy sledding, biking, camping, and mushroom hunting. Anyone that knows the Reeves family would tell you that the world would truly be missing something great without DonDon in it.

Even with insurance, DonDon faces extraordinary transplant related expenses including co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from the hospital, and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will have to take for the rest of his life.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign DonDon’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Great Lakes Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
