Donnie Stone

Dear Friends of Donnie,

Some of you know Donnie from his job with Bartow County Government. Others of you know Donnie because you grew up with him in and around Cobb County. Maybe you’ve met Donnie at church or other community activity; he is a lifelong resident of Cobb and Bartow Counties. Donnie is an amazing friend, willing to give and do for others, and now he needs our help.

July 2000, Donnie was diagnosed with Hepatitis C as a result of blood transfusions from open heart surgery he had as a child to repair a heart defect. The hepatitis virus has now destroyed his liver and the liver damage is affecting other organs such as his lungs and kidneys. Donnie has had numerous doctor visits, treatments, and hospitalizations throughout the metro-Atlanta area: all have proven to be unsuccessful and costly. Donnie’s only chance for survival is a liver transplant.

Due to the seriousness of Donnie’s medical condition he has become disabled and he was placed on the transplant waiting list. Donnie is now up against a challenge he cannot meet alone. This brings me to the purpose of this letter. Not only is this transplant a major surgical procedure, but it is very expensive and insurance will not cover all the costs.

Friends of the Stone family: during this time you can offer your help, your prayers, and you can also help financially. A fundraising campaign in Donnie’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered for transplant-related expenses only.
