Drake and his wife need your help.

For years I have struggled with diabetes and hypertension. The two diseases working in concert, have resulted in Stage 5 kidney failure. Upon receiving the diagnosis on April 16, 2022. I immediately started dialysis. 3 days a week, 4 hours a day. From that day, it was my mission to to complete all tests and examinations to be placed on the transplant list. Mission accomplished!

July 12, 2022 I was on the list! With the understanding, it was now a waiting game. 1 to 2 years is what we were told.

Fast forward to July 26, 2022. Two weeks out from list placement. I had a kidney waiting for me.
Four months from diagnosis to transplant! It was a miracle. What was not a miracle, is how unprepared we were financially. Covid knocked out our savings. We had the beginnings of a plan to save for the oncoming tsunami of uncovered bills heading our way. We went from thinking we had a year or two to help cushion the blow. To needing help. Not only would I need special medications and follow up appointments, an hour’s drive away. I would also need a fresh, non-processed diet. Even without inflation, this can prove to be an expensive undertaking. Not to mention fuel and car maintenance on already mechanically suspect vehicles.
With the exception of a small group of friends who have helped tremendously. We have no family to help. My mother has passed and my wife’s mother is 80 tears old with very limited resources.

This is why we have enlisted the assistance of Help Hope Live, a nonprofit organization. They help with fund raising to assist families with transplant expenses not covered by insurance. Help Hope Live controls all funds donated. This assures all funds go to medical and not misused for reasons other than described.
I ask for your help. Everything we don’t have to put towards medical expenses will keep our mortgage paid, assist with fresh food, utilities, bills, gas and vehicle maintenance.
