Edward Ed Colbert

Ed Colbert is a friend of mine. He is married to my cousin Rosemary, lucky man that he is. 🙂 But Ed and Rosemary desperately need our help, and quickly.

This is a life and death situation. Literally. Ed’s very survival is hanging in the balance.

You see, in June, 2010, Ed’s lungs collapsed. Not once, but twice. He was diagnosed with a life-threatening form of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). He is on oxygen 24 hours per day and is at the point where drawing a simple breath is a major struggle. Ed’s health is deteriorating rapidly and there is precious little time remaining. Ed needs a lung transplant if he is to survive. He only has 4-6 months.

The cost of a lung transplant is $1,600,000. That’s a lot of zeroes.

Their insurance will cover most, but not all, of the cost of the transplant. If Ed and Rosemary don’t raise the up-front funds they must contribute, the process cannot go forward. They are $15,000 short.

Throughout their thirty-three years together, Ed and Rosemary brought four wonderful children into this world and have been blessed with five grandchildren. But apparently, four children of their own weren’t enough ….. they also provided loving care for twenty-seven foster children. Think about that for a minute: four kids of their own and twenty-seven foster kids?

This devotion to the health and well being of others speaks volumes about the kind of people Ed and Rosemary Colbert are.

And now that they need help, it’s our turn to show them what kind of people we are.
