Edward Decker

Family and friends of Edward Decker are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a double Lung Transplant. Edward has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Hi,

my name is Edward Decker I’m 64 years old and in need of a double lung transplant in, 2017 I was diagnosed with COPD/Emphysema

I have 5 adult children and two teenage children and 11 grandchildren

I was a very active cyclist I rode 7 days a week all year long in 2023 I got hit hard with breathing issues ended up in the hospital and put on oxygen after about 2 weeks I started cycling again with oxygen tagging along started having more breathing issues so my doctor pulled me from the bike (I was heartbroken ) so I started working out at the gym with oxygen just trying to keep up my strength but that ended because they had to call 911 I was having difficulty breathing , back in the hospital I was , once again that was taken away from me too .

I struggle a lot with not doing the things I enjoy going to concerts with my kids or going to their school concerts and football games were my youngest daughter plays in the Smyrna marching band , I miss doing our yard for Christmas See photos, I struggle with going up the steps my son and wife have to help me get up to bed ,My wife has to help me take a shower the anxiety is so bad at times I feel like I’m drowning and cannot breathe and very claustrophobic at times.

Edward was hospitalized multiple times since Sept 2025 in November he was hospitalized he was sepsis due to infection and the phlegm in his lungs; he was hospitalized again in December they found 2 blood clots in his lungs ed is pretty much home bond due to all the flu bugs and stuff going around. Ed is Stage 4 COPD
