Ed’s New Life

Ed is a 52 year old family man. On April 26th, 2021, he underwent neck surgery to relieve pressure off his spine. While doing physical therapy, a Hematoma developed on his spine causing him to become paralyzed. This has taken him down a long road he developed a category 5 pressure ulcer, a wound that took over a year to heal. To assist with the healing process Ed had to under go several surgeries, he now has a Sub – Pubic Catheter and Colostomy to prevent infecting the wound. Ed has been Transferred between several Hospitals and facilities for his care.

This has been the scariest thing Ed has ever gone through. Ed was born with Cerebral Palsy which he learned to live a normal and full life. Ed has been a hard worker all his life, he never let the Cerebral Palsy stop him. Ed loves spending time with his wife and son. He looks forward to the different activities they do together like going to the movies or to the County Fair every year. His family is very special to him.

Since the surgery, Ed has been bedridden. He has overcome the large wound. He now is doing physical therapy, he is able to sit on the side of the bed for several minutes. He has a power wheelchair that he uses. Currently he’s only able to ride around the family room.

Ed is fundraising because he needs a van for transportation. He also needs to make his home more accessible since currently he’s only able to access one room. These are very costly and added to the day to day expenses really are taking a toll on our limited finances.

Having the home more accessible and the van will allow Ed to enjoy his new found life. He will be able to make new memories with his family.
