Elizabeth Bulgherini Mitchell

Dear Friends and Family of Elizabeth Bulgherini Mitchell:

Some of you know Liz from her job as Coordinator of Admissions for Lamar University. Many of you know her as the friend you grew up with in Vidor, Texas. Maybe she became a part of your life at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where Liz has been a long-time member. Others met Liz over the past 10 years at one of the many Girl Scout activities that she has organized or participated in. No matter who you are, you have received this letter today because Liz and her family are in need of your help and support.

Twelve years ago, Liz began to encounter obstacles regarding her health. She was recently diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Liver Cirrhosis and probable Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Radiation and chemotherapy are not options for her condition. A liver transplant is now her only chance of survival.

Funding a liver transplant is a monumental task that is both emotionally draining and financially expensive. Many transplant-related expenses are not covered at all by insurance. Asking for help is not the easiest thing for Liz and her family to do; however, it is now necessary. They are now facing a challenge they cannot overcome alone. All of you can help the family by offering your love, prayers and support. While Liz is in the transplant waiting list you may be invited to benefit functions and fundraising events. Please attend if you are able, but if you cannot, please choose to offer your financial support by mail, telephone or online.

A fundraising campaign in Liz’s honor has been established with the HelpHOPELive. HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit organization that has been helping the transplant community for nearly 30 years.
