ELLE NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!

My name is Elle Cline, and with the help of my community, I can receive a much needed kidney transplant. For over 20 years, I’ve been struggling with kidney disease, and it has progressed to stage 5 with PKD (polycystic kidney disease). After my second child was born in 1994, I was diagnosed with renal failure, yet I remained an active and healthy mom to my children all the while — until now. Recently, I’ve been experiencing more side effects of the disease, but I’m trying to stay positive through it all. It is my hope to bypass dialysis and, instead, be blessed with a new kidney.

On July 18, 2015, I married my soulmate. Life sometimes feels like it’s beginning all over again for me, and I want to enjoy the next 40 years alongside my husband being full of energy, optimism, and the free spirit that I’ve always been. You may know me through my daughter, Jenna, who is a gymnast at Amarillo College . . . or my son, Alex, who is a rifleman in the Army . . . or maybe my son, Tony, who attended Tascosa High . . . or perhaps through my husband, Dave, who owns V & S Industrial Supply here in Amarillo. Maybe you remember me best as a driver for Bivins Memorial Nursing Home who took great care of your mom or dad when taking them to doctor appointments, when I was a helping hand and friend to your parents while they received skilled care at Amarillo Center for Skilled Care, or when I shared the sadness from losing your loved one because they had become family to me, too. God has blessed me with friendships and close bonds to several people that I’ve cared for, and now I’m faithfully asking for your help in battling my fight.

Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, I’m facing very high expenses that include travel to and from the hospital, relocating closer to the center for me and my caregiver for several months, co-pays, anti-rejection medication that I will need to take for the rest of my life, and any expenses a potential donor may incur.

To help with the financial burden of my uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
