Enija Mays

Family and friends of Enija Mays are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund a wheelchair accessible van.

Enija Mays was born on June 22, 2004, a healthy beautiful baby girl with the brightest eyes. As a little girl, Enija loved to read books and sing, she was the sweetest little girl who was caring and polite. As Enija grew her love of reading continued earning her many awards. By the time Enija entered high school, she was a model student in her community, active in her home church, and a band member playing the flute.

Enija graduated from high school on May 23, 2022 with honors earning her a scholarship to a University where she was accepted into the RN program. Enija’s goal was to become a nurse practitioner and start her practice in her local community. Enija finished her last semester of nursing clinical with excitement as she was set to graduate on May 12 2025.

As the semester ended right before Christmas Enija traveled back home to celebrate with family and friends. December 30 of 2024 started as an ordinary day, as Enija was unloading a case of water out of the car she felt a slight pain in her neck. She tried to sleep it off, but she was met with tingling in her fingers. Enija decided to visit the local emergency room thinking it was maybe a pinched nerve. As she sat waiting for results, she noticed she could no longer move her arms, and within an hour she had no control over her legs. As the local hospital couldn’t find answers they immediately flew her to a larger hospital where they diagnosed her with having a spinal cord stroke at the young age of 20.

This stroke has caused her to become a quadriplegic. We are reaching out to the community to help purchase a wheelchair accessible van to help Enija get to Doctors appointments and physical therapy. It would also be used to allow Enija to socialize, shop and be productive in society.

Enija would also like to re enter school to study psychology. Enija has been through a lot this year, not only did she deal with the unforeseen circumstances of becoming a quadriplegic she also loss her granddad on May 19, 2025 with whom she shared a close bond.

I am her mom and caretaker I am unable to work so our resources are limited we are a faith-filled family in need of assistance so we thank you in advance for your devotion and support.

This campaign is a call for urgent support. With your help, we can help restore some of the quality of life that was taken from Enija with the spinal cord stroke.

Your donation will help Enija and her family move forward with essential physical therapy and doctor’s visit to assist Enija in regaining as much movement as possible.

An accessible vehicle is Enija’s lifeline to the outside world, to attend her appointments and become part of her community again. And hopefully regain as much independence as possible.
