Evelyn Calderon

Family and friends of Evelyn Calderon are raising money through the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Evelyn is a 63 year old mother and grandmother awaiting an opportunity to continue to live a life surrounded by those she loves most. On March 14th, 2024, she got the news that her condition had progressed rapidly and would now need a liver transplant as she is currently living in chronic liver failure. Evelyn was diagnosed with Cirrhosis (consequence to her fatty liver) on August 27, 2015, and was never aware of just how drastically this condition would change her life.
Being a servant of God and to his teachings, is how Evelyn feels happiest. She is light to all those she encounters with a bright smile, a hug that says a million words, and a listening ear when needed most. She enjoys spending time with her two daughters, Nicole and Joyce, son-in-laws Alexis and Rocky, grandchildren Gaby, Naomi, Kailani, AJ, and Julian, and her family and friends. They are the beat to her heart and being a part of every milestone in this story we call “life,” is her reason to continue fighting this battle.
In the last TWO years her diagnosis has worsen and she has found herself battling with the symptoms such as severe jaundice, high toxin levels that cause her to lose consciousness or severe confusion, extreme tiredness, and a severe bloated abdomen, due to the amount of fluid being retained that doesn’t allow her to perform normal daily activities such as walking her faithful companion Shadow, prepare a breakfast, or spend time with her family. She can’t walk up or down 1 flight of stairs without feeling as though she needs an oxygen machine because she can’t catch her breath.
Evelyn is fundraising to help cover her liver transplant, some of the post-transplant expenses to help cover the cost of the medications and after care necessary. Due to her condition, she has not been able to work, and is seeking a way to help cover the costs not covered by insurance and to help alleviate expenses for her family.
Evelyn is hopeful that this liver transplant will allow her the second chance to be part of every adventure and moment with her family. She prays for a “new normal” in which she can spend time with her family and friends, give back to the church, and be able to one day see her grandchildren walk down the aisle, and even possibly enjoy some great grandchildren. Ensuring that she is there for her grandchildren’s most exciting life events, just as she was able to do so for her daughter’s.
