HELP EVELYN GET NEW LUNGS AND A NEW LIFE

Evelyn worked for a nonprofit for almost 20 years, helping to raise millions of dollars for the developmentally disabled. She loved her career and helping several charities throughout five states. Her only regret in her life was having picked up that first cigarette at 15 years old. She smoked for 17 years, also having bronchitis at least four times per year. When she quit smoking at age 33 Evelyn became very health-conscious and committed herself to a daily exercise plan. But unfortunately, the damage had been done, and at age 40 she was diagnosed with COPD.

Evelyn realized in her learly 40’s that all the plans she had for the future would need to happen sooner. So, she quit the career she loved and went off to the mountains to eventually open her crafts store and buy her dream home. Sadly, the COPD was aggressive and it began to become more difficult for Evelyn to get to her store every day. Soon the time came when she lost her business and her home.

Now, at 57, Evelyn is on the lung transplant list at Stanford and is working very hard to be in the best possible condition to accept new lungs. She goes to pulmonary rehab twice a week and exercises every day in between. She has two wonderful dogs that make sure she is up and moving!!!

After many years of helping others, Evelyn is now the one that needs our help. Transplantation, medications, treatment and temporary housing near Stanford are all very expensive. Some are not covered by any insurance at all.
