Freddie Favors

Family and friends of Freddie Favors are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Injury. Freddie has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live, in part because your donations are tax-deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical equipment and other medical-related expenses.

I’d like to share my story with you. I am 77 years old, and on December 15, 1985, I had a diving accident that completely redesigned my life. The accident caused my Spinal Cord Injury(SCI) between L-1 & L-2, and I’m paralyzed from the waist down. I’m approaching 40 years since that day, and I often ask myself, how did I overcome the numerous challenges, obstacles, and physical challenges as well? The first couple of years, I had an emotional breakdown and used mind-altering and mood-altering substances to cover up my emotional and physical pain. Looking through my rear-view mirror, I acknowledge the countless people, friends, and family who helped me physically and spiritually in overcoming these challenges and obstacles. I have received numerous blessings from these people, and I am grateful for them.
