Gabriel Carlson

Dear Friends, Family and Community,

Our son, Gabriel Carlson’s life was thrown into upheaval when he was diagnosed with a very rare disease, Wagner’s four years ago, at just 21 years of age. He is now in full remission of Wagner’s, but the disease has left him with complete kidney failure and Gabe is now completely dependent on dialysis, requiring him to be attached to his dialysis machine each day for ten to twelve hours. He is now waiting for a life-saving kidney transplant.

Gabriel is the loving husband of Brittny and they were blessed with a son Micah in 2013. Currently Gabriel is working full time as the Assistant Pastor with a youth/family emphasis at Moreno Christian Assembly and although his health slows him down and effects the hours he is available to work, he continues to serve in the community, at the schools, and the families of MCA daily. He is a dynamic young man who has dedicated his life to helping others and now he needs our help. A kidney transplant will allow Gabriel the opportunity to live a full life, raise his son, and to continue to preach the word and to serve others.

Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance Gabe and Brittny will need to cover the costs of co-pays and deductibles, lab fees, the hospital stay, post-transplant medications and more. Gabriel’s out of pocket expenses for the transplant is estimated at $20,000 plus the post-transplant medications which can cost $1,200 a month, and will continue for his lifetime.

To help with the financial burden a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
