Please Help My Dad, Gary!

Earlier this year my dad, Gary Suydam, was riding his bike home from work and was hit by a car and run over by another. Because of this accident, he is now learning how to live as a quadriplegic. He spent a month in the ICU on life support and will be at a rehabilitation center for three months. We are all learning how to help him maintain his independence so he can come home. The time he has spent in the hospital and the adjustments that must be made to our home carry some hefty expenses. This is why we are asking for your help.

My parents have lived in Colorado for twenty-five years with myself and my older brothers, Garrett and Hunter. Dad loves riding his bike, skateboarding, traveling, and making new friends. He loves his neighborhood and is a valued member of his community. More than anything, he is very enthusiastic to come home, and is looking for ways to move forward in his recovery. My dad will need constant care when he comes home, but my mom, Lisa, is anxious to get him home.

Although there is some insurance, it won’t come close to covering all the expenses that result from this accident and the necessary home modifications. He is unable to work at this time and one of the drivers fled the scene and was uninsured. This presents a challenge that our family cannot meet alone.
