My 8-year journey…and more to come

My journey started 8 years ago with an allergic reaction to penicillin and my kidney function began to fail. I fought to stay healthy while on dialysis for 7 years to get my transplant. Although it could be disheartening, I continued to have a smile on my face and a good attitude.

Life throws everyone curveballs, but the biggest indicator of success is how we handle ourselves. During those moments, I chose to face one obstacle at a time with a good attitude…and with the support of my family and friends, I have been able to move forward. My new fight, however, is just beginning and I will continue to face the obstacle and overcome it.
