Welcome Friends and Family to our page! First thank you! If you have clicked on this, it means you are vested in our journey and love Glenn just like we do. Many of you know while the last year has had many blessings that some of you have played a role in, it has been met with many challenges.

In October 2021 Glenn was involved in an accident that resulted in injuries including 7 vertebral fractures when another car struck him on the bridge. His recovery from the accident has been greatly hindered as we also learned at the same time that his liver was failing. Much quicker than we ever knew. As the last few months have progressed so has the deterioration of liver function to the point that he is in the last few steps of being accepted to the transplant list at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Most likely he will not be able to have surgery to fuse the vertebrae in his back until he has recovered from the liver transplant. The good news is that Mayo considers him to be an excellent candidate as he has no other health issues and has a great future ahead of him.

Many have asked how you can help, and this is where you can come in. The transplant expenses are extremely costly even with the contribution of our insurance. Glenn is currently unable to work due to the fractures in his back and the toll that his liver failure has taken on his body leaving Michelle as the sole financial provider for the family. Additionally, the screening process is quite time consuming so she has already expended most of her allotted PTO for the year. Mayo estimated a timeline when he started the evaluation process in June that would hopefully give Glenn a liver around the beginning of the new year. We are VERY grateful that we are not looking at a year or more wait, but this may leave Michelle having to take off several weeks without pay. Additionally there are extensive travel costs with gas, hotel, and meals. All of these costs just scrape the surface of what our family will be facing as far as medical expenses go. We would be extremely thankful and grateful for any donation you could contribute towards his transplant and recovery. We could not imagine our future without Glenn as a part of it.

A little bit about Glenn n and his family and who just who it is you are helping. Glenn spent his childhood in Michigan and Arizona. Then, what was supposed to be a trip across the country to Florida led Glenn to his wife Michelle in VA. Rather than continue on to Florida he married and remained in VA. Since that fateful trip, they have now been married for 30 years. Together they have two children, Sierra and Alex. Sierra is currently in her last year of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University in Indiana. Alex was living in Auburn attending school but has relocated to Florida to help Michelle with Glenn’s care. After both of their kids finished highschool and relocated, they decided to follow their hearts and finish that move to Florida. This landed them in their current location, right on the beach in Panama City.

Glenn has always been a hard worker and dedicated father and husband. He has always been a kind, energetic person that has never met a stranger. He is always there and willing to help a person in need. Prior to the accident, his source of income was as a commercial driver which took him from one end of the country to the other. Unfortunately due to the vertebral fractures and liver failure he has been unable to work and mostly homebound since October. Thankfully, he has been told by Mayo that he makes an ideal transplant candidate since he was otherwise healthy.

Family and friends of Glenn Carless are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Glenn has been officially placed on the Liver Transplant List with UNOS!!! We are packing our bags and awaiting the call to go to Jacksonville. When the call does come, we have 30 minutes to get on the road.
We’d also like to share that Glenn’s back has improved greatly. He is no longer wearing a back brace and uses his cane on occasion. He will at some point need surgical intervention, but he is not a good candidate at the moment.
