Gregory Smith

On September 27th Greg Smith’s life changed forever, he fell. He fell 17ft from a ladder in his attic suffering a severe spinal cord injury. He fractured multiple vertebrae from his neck to his lower back, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down…but don’t count him out just yet. Greg is a fighter and after emergency surgery, weeks in ICU, and shear determination he is making remarkable progress (a few miracles some might say) and now he’s breathing on his own, eating, and even moving his toes. Greg is hopeful and continues to defy the odds and even when some have said words like “impossible” he is finding ways for possible. 

Being a honored Air Force veteran, he has the opportunity and was accepted to the VA Spinal Cord Injury Center in Tampa for specialized rehabilitation. We just need some help getting him there and covering some of the costs and fees. We’re raising funds for his medically-supervised transport with Flying Angels from Indianapolis to Tampa, where he’ll be near family who will support his recovery. Greg dreams of driving and walking again, and with the right care, doctors believe recovery is possible.

The cost of the transportation is estimated to be $9,624. Additional funds raised will be used towards his living expenses (up to 3 months), medical bills, and therapy costs. We will be posting updates with more details on priorities and needs once we secure his transportation, which is the highest priority right now.

Family and friends of Gregory Smith are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Injury. Gregory has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
