Harmony needs your help with expenses related to her recovery from a spinal stroke!

Harmony Perez, a dedicated mother of Riley (10), Maya (8), and Skye (pit-sky dog – age 4) faced a life-altering event on April 22nd, 2024. What started as a normal morning quickly turned into a medical emergency when she experienced severe back pain that led to sudden paralysis in her legs. Harmony was rushed to Piedmont Eastside, where despite extensive testing and treatment, her condition worsened. After 12 days of advocating for her transfer, she was moved to Piedmont Atlanta on May 4th, where further testing confirmed she had suffered a rare spinal stroke. Spinal strokes account for only 1.25% of all strokes and present unique challenges. Initially, there was hope that plasma exchange treatments would restore her mobility, but her diagnosis required a different approach. Harmony was transferred to the Shepherd Center Atlanta on May 16th for intensive inpatient rehabilitation, where she has been making progress despite numerous challenges, including managing her preexisting lupus and undergoing bowel surgery and a shoulder injury. Now, after 43 days at the Shepherd Center, Harmony is still paralyzed from the breast-line down and is learning to adapt to her current reality. Her rehabilitation has been rigorous, and she continues to show incredible resilience and strength. Harmony and her family remain hopeful and are still praying, for our Lord and Savior to heal Harmony and help her to walk again. As Harmony prepares for her tentative discharge on July 23rd, 2024, her family is making necessary home modifications to accommodate her needs. These include things that are not typically covered by insurance, such as… installing access ramps, widening doorways, remodeling the downstairs bathroom, relocating their bedroom downstairs, and potentially installing a stair lift. Additionally, they need to cover out-of-pocket expenses for medical equipment, copays, and transportation that can accommodate an electric wheelchair. We are seeking your support to help cover these expenses and make life as comfortable as possible for Harmony upon her return home.
