Howard Whited

Dear Friends and Family,

We are writing to you on behalf of our father, Howard Whited. Dad is a loving father, grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of one. He had a wonderful, long marriage with our mother, Patricia who passed away in 2010. He has always been there for us and is a good friend to many.

Dad suffers from congestive heart failure and we have been told by his doctors that he is in need of a life-saving heart transplant. He is now on the waiting list for this procedure. In the meantime, his doctors are going to insert a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to keep him alive until he receives the transplant.

This brings us to the purpose of this letter. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel and relocation for an extended period of time and Dad will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This puts us up against a challenge that we cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.

To help alleviate the financial burden of a transplant, a fundraising campaign in Dad’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
