Ivan Tule Garcia

Ivan Tule Garcia is 41 years old, he is the husband to Claudia for 16+ years. He has 3 beautiful daughters (16, 15 and 10) and is one of the best excavator heavy equipment mechanics you’ll ever know. He is the oldest of seven siblings and the first grandkid on his dad side. His siblings always kid around with their mom that Ivan is mom’s favorite (which Ivan will always say is true).
When he was in his early 20’s, he received a kidney transplant from his mom. The kidney was working great, but about 11 years ago, it started failing. He had to go on dialysis and has been on dialysis ever since. Dialysis is hard on the body and difficult to maintain a full time job. Ivan had to go to dialysis 3 times a week for about 4 hours a day. On the days he is not feeling exhausted, he is out and about with his wife and daughters. He keeps busy around the house and likes to check in with his old mechanic boss to keep up with his knowledge, a lot of his old co-workers still call him up when difficult problems come along to get his input on how to fix them. Working on cars and excavation equipment has always been a passion of his and is one he shares with his dad and brothers.
Ivan was able to receive a kidney transplant just last month. Everyone that knows him is extremely excited, especially since he was given a really low chance of finding a perfect match. He spent a week in the hospital during the transplant and the transplant was a success. He had some unforeseen set backs and ended up in the hospital again with a second surgery needed and about another week stay in the hospital. But the kidney is still functioning like its supposed to which is what matters.
These hospital stays along with the kidney transplant come at a really high cost. While insurance will cover some of it, there will still be a lot of out of pocket expenses. The average kidney transplant cost is 400k and the daily hospital stay is around 2k. Ivan will also have to be on medication for the rest of his life, which comes at a cost of about $5000.00 a month. We want to fundraise to help Ivan raise as much money as possible to ease the burden that comes with medical expenses. That way he can just focus on his recovery and try to ease the financial stress on his family.
