It’s Going to be OK

I have a rare lung disease Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis, which was caused by my pet parrot and environmental mold. My only option is a lung transplant. So, even though this is extremely uncomfortable for me, I would like to ask you to help in fundraising for my out of pocket expenses. While my company’s insurance is very good (shout out to Nitto Denko!) given the major surgery, plus life time anti-rejection medications, and other medical requirements, there will be a large portion of expenses’ not covered.

Help Hope Live is a 501(c) 3 national non-profit foundation, so donations will be tax deductible. They came recommended by UCSD La Jolla, where the transplant will take place, given lungs become available (all prayers encouraged). UCSD La Jolla, is rated top 3 nationally in lung/heart transplants, and the survival rate for the first critical year after transplant is 96%. I’ll take those odds! Unfortunately, having chronic lung failure, without transplant life is short.

I do ask that you read about Help Hope Live to assure yourself it is a good solid foundation. Medical expenses not covered by insurance will be paid directly to the provider, all other incidental expenses, receipts will be required. In case of my death, Help Hope Live will provide the funds for funeral cost and any monies left will go back into the non-profit foundation, but that’s not going to happen because I plan on surviving!

And, for all those, you know who you are, thanks for all the laughs. Either way this goes, my life has been filled with lots of love and great laughs.
