Jim appreciates your help!

For many years our family has been able to enjoy having our husband, father, and grandfather around, although we have been told many times that Jim “doesn’t have that much longer to live”. James Williamson is a hard-working farmer who grew up and still lives in Dunbarton, NH. He is the strongest person we have ever known. He has led his life as an example to us all that even though you face hardships, they do not define who you are. Jim is the kindest, most giving, loving, and sacrificing man with an internal obligation to help others before himself. His spiritual heart is strong and has fought hard for a very long time. His actual heart has been trying to keep up, but it can’t keep up like it used to.

Jim has had 6 major heart attacks which have left his heart severely damaged. He has gone through 3 clinical trials hoping to benefit both himself and others. Over his lifetime, Jim has had 6 ICD units (implantable cardioverter defibrillators) implanted and is 100% paced in his left and right ventricles. A healthy heart pumps blood with a rate of 85-100% ejection fraction. Jim’s is down to a minimal 10%. He has been upgraded to a level 2 on the heart transplant list by his team at Tufts Medical Center. We are grateful a new heart will be coming soon because his heart has very limited capabilities left.

While we wait for the blessing of a heart, there are monetary issues he faces daily that have become increasingly overwhelming. He relies on both an O2 machine and life line machine that have dramatically increased utility expenses. He has oxygen, 2 liters per minute at night and as needed during the day. Jim is currently on 18 different medications 5 times a day. These are extremely expensive, many not covered by insurance. Before and then after his heart transplant surgery there are additional financial stresses. Since Jim lives in Dunbarton, NH and his heart transplant team is at Tufts in Boston there are multiple travel expenses for the hour and a half trip: parking fees, gas, bus ticket expenses when they just can’t drive, food costs at the hospital for Jim’s wife when he is admitted. There is travel for the 5 days a week of doctor’s appointments and cardiac rehabilitation. Neither Biofeedback classes nor a Stress Relieving class are covered but would help him tremendously. Jim needs our support!
