Help Tripp Kelly regain Independence

On 8/1/15, my son, Tripp (James) Kelly was struck with an autoimmune disease diagnosed as Transverse Myelitis. A healthy hardworking man became a CS incomplete quadriplegic in a matter of minutes. He has regained some·upper body movement and has luckily regained about 50% function of his hands. During the past 3 years he has made many advances in his therapy and working towards his Independence. Although doctors and hospitals can’t give us a long-term prognosis we can begin to help him regain some of his independence back.

His goals are to be able to go pick up his daughter himself and take her places and return to the workforce. In order to do that a vehicle must be secured for him to drive. We were fortunate enough to find a vehicle that was previously owned by a quadriplegic that we purchased for him. However, we
have now found that the specifications for modification are not what Tripp needs to drive, so changes
need to be made for him. The modifications are being completed by R&R Mobility in Conyers Georgia and are quite costly.

As you can imagine the expenses for a quadriplegic are overwhelming, not just for Tripp but for our whole family trying to ensure he has what is needed and required for his health. Although he has Medicare insurance it does not pay for modifications for a vehicle. Or for other needs, such as medications, wheelchair upgrades, physical therapy, and more.
