James Norris

Jocelyn Norris, the daughter of James Norris is raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund medical and other return home expenses associated with a heart transplant. Jocelyn has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover expenses that directly support Jim as he recovers. 

My Dad was admitted to Tufts Medical Center in Boston on November 12, 2024. I drove my Dad into the city that morning and we found out his heart failure was rapidly worsening. His cardiologist said he would not be able to leave the hospital without a heart transplant – something neither of us expected. My Dad was quickly listed and thankfully was offered a heart, they took him for surgery on Sunday, November 24. 

My Dad is now “Jimmy 2.0” and is recovering at the hospital! So far he feels good and strong, and they plan to send him home the week of December 9. Jocelyn will be Jim’s 24/7 primary caregiver once he returns home to Swampscott, MA. 

When My Dad’s home, rest assured we’ll be listening to plenty of Dave Clark Five, watching Notre Dame and the Celtics! I’ve been preparing my Dad’s apartment to ensure he will return to a clean, safe space. 

I’m hoping that fundraising through Help Hope Live will support us in the post-transplant months ahead. Funds raised will help us with many things – from restocking all new groceries, costs of more frequent laundry, purchase of cleaning supplies, medical supplies, air filtration systems, hospital parking fees and more.
