Pete Petree

Pete, a long time resident of El Reno, has spent the past five years fighting congestive heart failure. In January of 2024 he was diagnosed with Amyloidosis, a build up of proteins in his blood that have attacked his heart, causing irreversible damage. While Pete is as tough as they come, his heart is fighting against him in this battle. In order to beat the disease and see a turn around in his health, a heart transplant is necessary.

As a former coach, Pete has always enjoyed attending sporting events and activities in his community, especially those his grandsons are involved in. If you have been lucky enough to visit with him at one of these events you have most likely walked away feeling encouraged in some way. This new diagnosis has slowed Pete’s pace of life and limited his activity drastically. Severe lack of energy and shortness of breath are side effects of amyloidosis and have taken their toll, making it almost impossible for him to enjoy a ballgame or pig show of the G boys.

As one would expect, the cost of pre-transplant ICU care, plus post-transplant ICU/hospital stay are astronomical, not to mention the expense of medications required for life. All proceeds from fundraising and donations made to Pete’s Help Hope Live campaign will be used for medical expenses accrued throughout this process.

Pete’s goal after receiving his new heart is to be back to an active lifestyle! He is ready to be back in his church, play catch with the G boys, go to their ball games and pig shows, and get back to fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
