Jan McDaniel

Family and friends of Jan McDaniel are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Jan has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

I have spent most of my life raising children, teaching elementary school, and being a caregiver for family members. In 2018, my husband of 44 years, John, and I became legal guardians to four of our grandchildren. Family is very important to me and I spend as much time with them as I can. We even gather together every Sunday for family dinner.

Since the beginning of 2025, I’ve had to wear oxygen at all times. The oxygen and weakness have limited most activities outside of my home including just going on a simple errand to the grocery store. It has also limited my being able to take our grandchildren anywhere.

I need to fundraise to help cover the cost of relocating closer to my dedicated transplant team and hospital. I will need to stay one to two months after the surgery, plus cover the added cost of medical supplies, transportation, medications,and other items that health insurance does not cover.

I pray that the lung transplant will let me get back to normal activities with my grandchildren, family, and friends. I am looking forward to being able to take walks, go to the zoo and even do the grocery shopping in the store.
