Why begin a campaign? Why fundraise? The question should be why should someone so young, like myself, need a heart; a new heart for that matter? Well, it happened to me. Why did it happen? Various reasons and factors played into this, but overall, it appeared to be congenital. Living with a Left Ventricular Assistance Device (LVAD) now, and waiting for that call to receive a new heart, why not campaign for my cause, to give me the best possible outcome, to help me be successful in a long and normal life.

What makes me special? Special is such a subjective term, to be honest. I like to think, what makes me worthy? What makes this campaign worthy enough to help me with my journey to a successful life post transplant? The answer? I’m a human being. I’m young. I have so much I want to achieve throughout my life. Is that so much to ask for? It’s hard to ask for help, especially for me, as I’ve always been Mr. Independent. However, there comes a time, when asking for help is needed, and swallowing your pride is required.

Donations will assist not only in expenses related to transplant, all medical related, but specifically out of these medical expenses, prescriptions related to transplant is a must have. There will be 2 prescriptions that I will need to be on for the remainder of my life. If I do not take this drug, I will die due to the heart being rejected by my body. Furthermore, there are numerous amounts of drugs that I will have to take until doctors give a clear for me to come off of them. Additionally, there are many follow up appointments post-transplant that will be required, so travel back and forth and these appointments are critical.

Know that by taking action and donating to the cause and sharing this campaign with others so they can donate to the cause, know that you are helping a young millennial to live on and fulfill dreams that he hopes to achieve. Know that not only are you helping my cause and a second chance at life, but also know that you are helping someone that is taking the heart of another human being that couldn’t survive this life. You are helping their heart to enter into my body, helping to keep that heart strong and well post-transplant, and for that organ to live a long and prosperous life for the donor and the recipient.
