Jasmine Brown

Dear Friends, Family and Community,

I am writing to you today on behalf of my loving wife, Jasmine Brown. Since Jasmine was 23-years old, she has been battling kidney disease. Only 5 months after she was diagnosed, I gave Jasmine her first donated kidney. Now, at 35, Jasmine is in need of a second life-saving kidney transplant to survive.

Over the years, the medications Jasmine has needed to take because we were not a perfect match have taken their toll, including causing prednisone-induced diabetes. As a result she has not been able to work since 2008 and over the past 12 months Jasmine’s body has started to reject the kidney to the point where she is now in end stage renal failure. She is about to begin regular dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours each time, and is in the final stages of evaluation to be placed on the Kidney Transplant Waiting List. We are also pursuing the option of another living donor.

Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-payments for multiple doctors’ appointments, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center and Jasmine will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is desperately needed.

To help with some of these uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in Jasmine’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a non-profit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, and are held by HelpHOPELive in the New York Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administrated by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
