Help Jayla enhance her quality of life, by helping her family raise money for a Wheelchair Accessible Van.

Family and friends of Jayla Jefferson are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Illness. Jayla is a 14-year-old teenager, who has Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Lennox Gestaut Syndrome, Neuromuscular Scoliosis, and several other medical complications. She was born with Septo Optic Dysplasia, which is a rare brain malformation.

Due to her brain being underdeveloped, she was born blind, nonverbal, and severely profound. Although she was diagnosed with failure to thrive, she wakes up everyday and pushes through her daily adversities. Her Doctors said, that she wouldn’t live beyond two years of age; yet she exceeded that expectancy and then some. She loves to smile, spend time with her loved ones, listen to music and nature sounds. Jayla has touched so many hearts by her sweet gentle personality and, an unbelievable perseverance to keep pushing forward.

Jayla has to travel weekly for doctor visits, therapy services, and medical procedures. There are times when she has to travel through ambulatory services, which are not for non emergency purposes. She weighs over 90 lbs. and is unable to maintain body positioning in space without full support. She is completely dependent on her family and caregivers for all transfers and mobility support. She is wheelchair dependent.

With that being said, travelling with Jayla weekly without a handicap accessible vehicle can be extremely tedious and exhausting. She recently had hip surgery in February, due to her left leg being fractured due to Osteoporosis. Every transfer without a ramp, increases her chances of future injuries and chronic joint pain.

Our goal is to purchase an accessible wheelchair van that will ensure her safety and offer her a better quality of life. Which will decrease the chances of future fractures and joint pain.
