Sometimes you receive news that is hard to take, that changes your world as you know it, and that throws all of your plans for the future into question.

4 years ago Jazmine noticed a change in her health, energy, and bodily functions. After having routine blood work done she was told that her kidney functioning was very low and that she needed further testing as soon as possible. Shortly after we were told that not only was Jazmine diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, she also had only one remaining kidney, a mystery neither our family nor the doctors could explain. For all of her life her one diseased kidney was doing the work of 2. At the young age of 18, when life seems everlasting and the world at your feet, Jazmine was told that for the rest of her life she would need monthly doctor visits, close monitoring of her kidney, a lifetime of medications, and eventually a kidney transplant. Thankfully, she has found her donor match, her sister, Nari, and together they will take on this journey so that Jazmine can thrive in life and have a more promising future. June 29th they both will undergo the life altering surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida.

Through it all Jazmine has continued to live life. She graduated high school, continued working to provide for herself, and even grew more in love with her high school sweetheart, Aaron. Jazmine has always prided herself for her independence and compassion for others (and all things animals). Jazmine will be incurring major medical expenses for the rest of her life. While she enjoys her job as a professional framer, being out of work for a minimum of 6 – 8 months is weighing heavily on her shoulders. On average kidney transplant surgeries, and all associated costs, total well over $200,000. Donations will be used to cover insurance deductibles, copays, evaluation/testing, immunosuppressant & anti rejection medications (in addition to 5+ prescriptions), nutritionist, additional hospital stays, and years of follow-up care. Transplant surgery is the first step, but certainly not the last. To ensure that she can continue living life and grow into the person she’s meant to be, she needs the help of her community.
