Family and friends of Jeff Burkle are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Jeff has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Get Jeff Back to Doing What He Loves!

Jeff is a loving husband and father. He lived a fairly active life before being diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. He’s been trying to manage it with medications and diet changes but had to start weekly paracentesis appointments in September 2025. We are in the process of being evaluated for listing on the list for a liver transplant and it all adds up.

An avid fisherman as well as a drummer, Jeff can spend a full day out on the lake or just talk about fishing for a big ol’ bass!! He enjoys playing drums for the praise band at church but it’s getting more and more difficult.

Life has gotten hard for Jeff. He struggles with low platelets as well as the poor liver function and that causes bleeding and bruising very easily. His skin is constantly itching and uncomfortable. He has extreme fluid retention in his abdomen as well as his legs/feet, especially after prolonged amounts of standing. It is a struggle to walk up stairs most every day. The fluid in his abdomen makes it difficult to breathe at times as well as affecting his appetite. It also affects his sleep. Another side effect is horrible vertigo causing nausea/vomiting and the inability to function.

Jeff is fundraising to help offset the costs of his paracentesis procedures now as well as all of the other appointments leading up to and including the transplant itself. He will require life-long medications and treatments following a transplant also that will all take a toll.

Jeff hopes that his liver transplant will allow him to get back to his normal life. He looks forward to resuming outdoor activities with his family and continuing playing drums as much as possible. He also wants to be able to feel well enough to spend quality time with his daughter before she graduates. Getting back to a normal work schedule will help as well.
