Dear Family and Friends,

I want to take a moment to share my deeply personal journey—a story woven with resilience, hope, and a vision for a brighter future.

Born in the early 1980s at just 28 and a half weeks, my life began as a mystery to the doctors. Entering the educational system at 18 months, I encountered numerous challenges. The Head Start program, though well-intentioned, lacked the necessary resources to support my special needs, leaving me to struggle with developing basic skills. A shunt revision at six years old damaged my optic nerves, a misdiagnosis that only added to the complexities of my schooling.

In junior high and high school, I began to find my place in mainstream classes. Despite the hurdles, my determination blossomed, and I ultimately graduated with my diploma—a moment I cherish deeply. After high school, I enrolled at Cerritos College to pursue teaching credentials but took a break to work at my church’s daycare. It was there that I discovered my true passion for nurturing and helping children grow.

Recognizing the importance of improving my mobility, I made the courageous decision to transition from my wheelchair to a walker. In March 2016, I started working with trainers at the YMCA, who encouraged me to focus on my health. To my amazement, I exceeded expectations, losing 16 pounds in two months. In March 2024, I joined Wonders on Wheels, a virtual gym led by Justin Graham. His innovative approach has empowered me to gain 16 pounds of muscle, and now I’m eager to pursue personal training sessions to enhance my strength and mobility even further.

I have my sights set on acquiring a Zen Wheelchair walker, which will allow me to stand tall and walk with confidence. My doctors are astonished by my progress, and I am wholeheartedly committed to intertwining my fitness journey with my academic goals, aspiring to return to school for my teaching credentials.
